Posthumous Honors for Johnny Hargrove

John and Mary Cheryl are proud that Johnnys work is recognized by The George Washington University in Washington,DC.
In an email sent 3-1-14 John relayed the following: "Here is some good news for Mary Cheryl and me in the wake of our tragic loss of Johnny two months ago. I just received a call from George Washington University confirming that it is awarding Johnny his master’s degree posthumously. Mary Cheryl and I knew that this was in the works but for obvious reasons kept it quiet. Johnny was a straight “A” student at GW and had only one course to complete toward his graduate degree. There’s more! Thanks to an anonymous benefactor GW is establishing “The Johnny Hargrove Memorial Scholarship” for deserving graduate students in Johnny’s program based upon need. Mary Cheryl and I will be going to DC on Friday and Saturday, March 7-8 on our way back from Harvard (where I continue to lecture each semester) in order to meet with the school officials and, of course, we will be attending the graduation ceremony on May 17th when Johnny will be honored. What a birthday present for Johnny! He would have been 38 years old on February 25th. You cannot imagine our emotions on this!" John
